Brass Plugins: Mime
Introduction To The Advanced Features
The previous pages have shown you how Mime works,
and how to use it for pretty much all your day-to-day requirements.
What we haven't looked at yet are the advanced features - and trust
me, they're pretty cool :-)
So far you've seen how to configure gestures and
parameters for plugin-based actions. As you know, these actions
and criteria are coded into DLLs and come pre-configured with information
about what they do and where they do it.
Once you've added a gesture for a plugin action,
it appears in the "Configured Gestures" tree and becomes
available for use. There's a lot more Mime can do though!
Firstly we're going to look at the Mime Context
Menu. This is a menu that appears when you right click an entry
in the "Configured Gestures" tree. From here you can edit
the properties of gestures, actions and criteria.
Next we're going to look at the Custom Action Wizard.
This wizard lets you add your own criteria and actions to the "Available
Actions" tree - that's right, you can create your own actions
for any application!
Although you don't need to read the advanced features
pages to use Mime, you will definitely get the most benefit if you
do. Mime can do so many shiny cool things, it would be a shame to
miss out!
