The Custom Action Wizard: Deleting a Custom Action or Application Set

It's possible that you might want to delete some of your custom actions or applications. Maybe you uninstalled the original application, or maybe you want to change some of your actions. Either way, it's easy to delete them.

Just as with editing an action, you must first select the application that you want to modify. This is the application set you want to delete, or the parent set of the individual action you want to delete.

When you've selected your application, you can choose what it is you want to delete.

Select the action you want to delete and click "Next" (don't worry, you will have to click Finish on the summary page before anything gets deleted).

If you want to delete the entire application set from Mime, check the "Delete the entire application and all custom entries" option. Click "Next", and it's done. The action or application you selected will be removed from the "Available Actions" tree.

Remember: You are only editing the available actions! Any existing gestures linked to the action or application you delete will remain and still be active. You must delete them manually from the "Configured Gestures" tree.

Undeleting Custom Actions

When you delete an individual custom action, it's not actually deleted. Instead it's marked with a special flag in the configuration file to tell Mime to ignore it.

Before you manually edit a configuration file, you really really really should make a backup.
Mime is sensitive to incorrect changes to these files.

If you delete an action by mistake, you can recover it by editing the configuration (NFO) file in your favourite text editor (UltraEdit is good) and replacing the ";*" (that's a semi-colon and asterix) at the start of its action and criteria lines.

You cannot undelete an entire custom application! In other words, if you check the "Delete the entire
application" box, it will be permanently deleted and completely unrecoverable!
