Amazing Brass and Windows Vista

Now that Microsoft have released Windows Vista, you might be wondering why you need Brass. It's a good question, and there's a very good answer...

The Vista Sidebar

You have probably heard of the new Vista sidebar. Microsoft saw just how popular "widget" and plugin enhancers like Amazing Brass are, and decided to add similar functionality to Vista.

The Vista sidebar lets you add simple plugins (called "gadgets" in Microsoft terms) to your desktop - you can add small puzzle games, little tools such as a calculator, and RSS feeds. In one shot Microsoft made most of the current desktop enhancer tools like Konfabulator and DesktopX completely redundant.

But not Amazing Brass...

What makes Brass special?

From day one the Brass development team have been very clear that Brass is not just another desktop enhancer tool. There are already too many tools that put a thousand RSS feeds on your desktop and, whilst Brass can still do that, we wanted something much more useful.

Brass is able to work with Windows at a much lower level than any other plugin enhancer tool, and provides far more functionality than the Vista sidebar.

With plugins such as Mime (mouse gestures in any application) and Outlooker (Outlook data on your desktop in a configurable display), Amazing Brass provides incredible system enhancements that simply aren't available elsewhere. And with the 100% Configuration System, allowing you to change the appearance of plugin displays simply by dragging and dropping (movies here), Brass is still the most powerful system enhancement tool available.

And although Brass can create all this shiny magic on your desktop, it won't use up your system resources. Brass was written in a mixture of C++ and Assembly language, making it the smallest, fastest and most efficient application of its type. Unlike other Widget engines and the Vista sidebar, no Javascript, Visual Basic or HTML is used. Brass can load and run plugins in less than 5 megabytes of memory - compare that to Konfabulator, which needs 10 megabytes of memory for each and every plugin you load.

Amazing Brass is the number one, most powerful system enhancement tool available, and gives you features you can't find anywhere else. Try it today!
