Brass 100% Configuration Interface

One of the most powerful features of Brass is the 100% Configuration interface. Imagine if you could change how your applications look simply by dragging and dropping the user interface elements where you want them.

No need to imagine - Brass can do it!

Plugins that have multiple elements to the user interface (eg: Woot Daily, Weatherman) can allow you to completely redesign their appearance simply by clicking, dragging and dropping. You can change the position, font, size, colour and much more of each display element!

The specific elements you can change will depend on the plugin you're using, but the 100% Configuration system works the same for all plugins.

Enabling Design Mode

To enable it simply right click the Brass tray icon, select the sub-menu of the plugin you want to configure and select "Enable Design Mode".

That's it!

Now when you move your mouse over the GUI elements in the plugin display panel you'll see a grey rectangle appear behind them:

Wherever you see this grey rectangle, press and hold the left mouse button then move the mouse to drag the GUI element to a new position.

Context Menu

Right clicking on some GUI elements (text elements especially) will pop up a context menu with display options:

The options are self-explanatory, select "Set Font" to pick a new font for the selected element or "Set Color" to pick a new colour.

You'll notice that sometimes elements are grouped together for visual purposes. So whilst you can drag each element to a new position, when you change the font or colour of one element all the other elements in the group also change. This is just a little helper to keep the display panel appearance in line.

Resizing Images

Sometimes you'll be able to resize image elements within a display panel. You'll see a resize handle in the bottom right of the images if you can resize them:

Simply click on the resize handle and drag it to resize the image.

Saving your configuration

You don't need to do anything to save your custom layout. Simply go back to the Brass tray menu and select "Disable design mode" from the plugin's sub-menu. Your layout will be automatically saved and used every time the plugin is loaded.

Expert Users

Plugins can save the custom layout in any location, but it's usually stored in <Brass Install Folder>\Plugins\<Plugin Name>\<Username>_layout.nfo.

You can edit this file in any text editor (not while the plugin is running though or your changes will be overwritten!). The contents of the file are commented so they should be easy to follow. Manually editing the file is a quick way to make some specific changes if you don't want to do it visually.
